Surprisingly good (Great actually.) retail operation for the DIY/Small Biz customer. Very easy to do business with. No minimums, good pricing on small orders. Beyond the standard steel yard, Coremark has a good selection of fabrication tools and hardware. I wish I had found this place sooner.

Coremark has been my main destination for metal for a few years. Their in store staff is great, however, the moment you have to deal with their account reps and need something laser cut that goes out the window. I have spent over $20k on materials and cutting services in the last year and every time there have been errors in the order. When requesting to have parts nested in a specific manner to reduce waste and cost I was told ‘ We are doing the best we can with nesting these parts. So the estimator will nest the parts in a way that you get what you need and get good quality parts. So what you got is the best that we can do here.“ While not surprised This order also was incorrect. Onto another company as the lack of consideration for the customer, lack of integrity, and overall slow responses have driven me to take my business elsewhere. Simply attempting to get a quote on a cutting job took over two weeks.

I have to say I’ve had to pick up supplies here for my company in the past and they went way above and beyond for service for my company. So when my steel dock failed and my welder gave me the option to source my own supplies. I already knew where to go. Their professionalism and customer service was excellent. Clearly I did not know what I was doing and they walked me through the entire process. Drastically reduced my project’s expenses when compared to shopping at menards or Home Depot. I had to go back three times for needed supplies all three times were the same level of Customer service. I even purchased all my nuts and bolts there too. So this review is for the average person / home owner / hobbyists. It’s ok to go inside it’s not all about commercial accounts. They will help you out and not feel silly not knowing what you exactly need or want.

Kind of UNBELIEVABLE but very REFRESHING! Hadn't purchased steel in many years from this location. Last time it was called Discount Steel. The entire process was excellent! I called in person (talked with a knowledgeable associate) to discuss prices, placed an order over the phone (I imagine web orders are preferred) and picked up materials two days later on a Saturday. When we arrived to pick up materials a great associate explained the company changes, history, current products and services provided while we waited for the gate to open. The gate was opened exactly when it was supposed to on a Saturday (0900) and we were routed in to park, sign some paperwork and get loaded.

The positive attitudes and helpfulness of everyone was the unbelievable part of my experience. Pulling in I received positive comment on my trailer (obviously home made), the guys that helped me load the trailer took great care to pick the product and to load the trailer to my satisfaction. The sheer cuts on my sheet steel were accurate and the tube stock was bundled in an orderly fashion.

I was a little intimidated in purchasing steel for the first time in many years but the Guys at Coremark made the experience great. The prices beat out a competitor that was located closer to my home by $180 (12 percent).

I highly recommend buying your materials at Coremark!

Unusually great customer service with the knowledge to back it up. Seriously though, I’m comparing their customer service to every place I’ve ever been in any industry and I feel good customer services is lacking and especially the knowledge of whoever’s job, I have high standards as you can tell. This place is legitimately pretty amazing. From the moment I walked in, I knew I loved it, because there was a bin of scraps for sale by weight and I immediately found a piece of aluminum suitable for protecting my anvil. They got me the steel i ordered quickly and didn't treat me any different than bigger customers (i only purchased 10#, but there were numerous semi trailers in the yard).

I had great luck with my purchase from Coremark Metals. Not being that familiar with what product I really needed for my project, I was able to gather a great of info from their website and then contacted Sam Anderson in the Sales Dept. Dislike that they charge 5.00 per chop saw cut and 10.00 per band saw cut. Dislike that they dont offer any discount to veterans. Love the customer service and the variety of metals they have on hand, and, other than the cutting prices, the pricing for the metal seems fair.

An excellent place with many different types of metals and supplies. Welding supplies, painting, drill bits, angle grinder disks, all of the consumables that go along with metal projects and a small area where they sell some snacks and give away free coffee. The staff were friendly and helpful especially the security guard out front who was super friendly and up beat.

Purchased aluminum and stainless for a trailer project most recently. As always quality was top notch, fair price point, and their packaging for the shipping of the items should serve as a benchmark for all other supply houses. I dealt with Sam in the office on this order and his communication was fast and on point as always. I have dealt with him in the past and he really knows his stuff about what they sell, and the fabrication processes (I had bending and cutting done) they offer. Discount remains my go-to for a metro metals supplier.

I love this place. Getting better and better, more customer-friendly, easy to find what you need and the BEST prices on bulk steel in the Midwest. I've checked. Plus, they have Norseman drill bits, they go through anything and are fairly-priced. Highly recommended!

I really like Discount Steel. I use them for my own hobby welding projects as well as for on the job projects. They have a very good selection of materials you can buy in short lengths in their walk in area, and they also have lots of remnants. I have certainly heard of people who say they are more expensive, though when I have compared prices with other industrial sellers I have not found this to be true often enough for me to consider getting quotes from other suppliers unless I plan to buy a lot of material. As a hobbiest, try to find an industrial supplier open on Saturday... You are not going to find crazy exotic alloys (though I have seen stocked Titanium), but they are well stocked with typical materials a fab shop or hobbiest would use. The people are always very friendly and helpful. They have something going on culturally that everyone is so cheerful - they get my support for that!

The security guy/greeter/load conformation specialist is a hoot. Worth the visit. Good prices, helpful service, organized, lots of misc. pieces, clean store, lots to pick from. Not as eclectic as a trip to Bauer Brothers down the street but if you need steel it is the most convenient.

Great service for the DIY, handy person, and major project inventor/builder. I really like shopping at Discount Steel they have a nice shopping center and huge selection. The staff is really helpful and cheerful. They take all the pressure out of buying an industrial product. They also have laser cutting service which I am excited to try.

Good products, good prices, great employees. What else to say? I used to go to Garlick up the street, but they're retail side is aweful now. Discount focus's on Joe blow coming in off the street buying steel, not just the company's coming in buying in bulk. I'm sure theirs more money in servicing only bulk orders, but I really like the service Discount provides. Btw, the Hispanic guy at the guard shack needs a raise, he is probably the nicest guy there and one of the key reasons so many people come here with his helpful nature.

I visited the retail center last week and despite not knowing anything about buying steel I had a great experience. Every person I encountered was friendly, helpful and went out of their way to get me what I needed. I was particularly impressed by the security guard who was very happy and friendly. I don't regularly need to buy steel/aluminum but when the time comes in the future I know where I'll go.

Junkyard dogs. You think of a metal yard, salvage yard, a place like this, and you think of mean old geezers waiting to snap at you. These guys are perfectly positioned to be surly a**holes, but they're not. I'm not in the industry. I'm just a hobbyist who wants brass hex bar on occasion, thick wall aluminum tubing, and the odd salvage seconds in their bargain bin. The folks at DS have always treated me like a valued customer and don't talk down to me even when my questions are rather basic. If you make things, fix things, or just want to see stuff you can't really see elsewhere, you'll enjoy a stroll through their new sales area. Great place, great people. Forget how you were treated at other places. These guys are swell folks doing good business.

So my husband and I decided to do a stainless steel backsplash for our kitchen. Neither one of us knew anything about steel, or how to cut it, or mount it or anything. Frankly, the staff at Discount Steel could have easily laughed us out of the place and it would have been acceptable.

Instead, the staff were EXTREMELY friendly, welcoming, and above all helpful! Not once did they laugh at the fact that two people such as us, clearly two that could be completely incompetent at the task we were about to take...instead they cheered us on, telling us we could do it and what we need to get the job done. And guess what? We did! :)

I cannot recommend this place enough. They are friendly, their prices are way below anything Home Depot could hawk at ya....it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and we will definitely be back for all our steel needs. Should we ever have steel needs in the future. :)

I have gone to discount steel 6 times now and it has been a great experience every time. The new retail section is great. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I even had some aluminum plates laser cut for my snowmobile and they turned out great. I would suggest a register in the retail center though. Not very clear where to pay for your findings. A few different doors and hallways to get to the front register can be confusing for the first time visitor. Prices are a little high but the selection is great.

Being a discount customer for many years I have always been pleased with their Service. I am not a large customer of Discount Steel, but I buy something at least twice a month or better. I find all the people that work there are friendly and knowledgeable. They are willing to go the extra mile to find the right product for your use. I find their prices are very reasonable and they have no minimum.

I have been working with Discount Steel now for well over a decade. They have always been able to help me with all my needs including sourcing unusual alloys and odd shapes. They are set up to help experienced metal workers and there friendly staff can also help first time/ one time shoppers get what they need. A steel yard can be an overwhelming place. Discount Steel dose a good job making there costomers welcome.
